Bring the Curlew to Stroud!
This World Curlew Day, April 21, help us bring the magic of the Eurasian Curlew to Stroud with a stunning mural by artist Mark Anthony (ATM). We’re raising £7,000 to create a beautiful mural featuring a Curlew and chick, building awareness of Curlews in Gloucestershire and the urgent conservation efforts needed to protect them.
Curlews in Gloucestershire are highly endangered and could disappear from the meadows along the river. That's why this year we are fundraising for a Curlew mural and event in Stroud to mark World Curlew Day - please donate if you can, but also come along to celebrate with us! Details and booking on Eventbrite.
Why This Matters:
Curlews are one of the UK’s most threatened birds. Through this mural, we aim to inspire education, action, and appreciation and we need your help to make it happen!

What Your Donation Supports:
- A breath-taking Curlew mural in Stroud.
- An interactive QR code so passers-by can hear the beautiful Curlew call.
- An information board explaining the importance of Curlew conservation in Gloucestershire.
- A special event at Lansdown Hall, featuring talks from WWT, Curlew Action, and more.

You can now win prizes by donating to our Crowdfunder!
We have three Curlew-themed prizes up for grabs - a £10 donation will give you an entry to win a Luke Western Curlew print, £15 will give you the chance of winning a Curlew Action silhouette t-shirt in your choice of colour, and £20 will enter you in the draw to win a Sarah Brabbin miniature ceramic Curlew figure!
The more you donate, the more entries you receive. A £20 donation or more enters you into the raffle to win all three prizes (including two entries into the £10 raffle)! Raffle now running until World Curlew Day (Monday 21 April).
We also have to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the fundraiser so far. We originally set out to raise £7,000, and thanks to two generous donations (and one being discussed) towards the project, which came to us directly, we have now been able to drop the ask to £5,000. For this we must thank:
- Wahkuna Vega, for her incredible donation of £1,000
- Gloucestershire Naturalists' Society, for their wonderful donation of £500 to cover the hall hire cost
- A third potential donor who we are currently in talks with
The mural will definitely be going ahead now, but it would really help us if we could get even closer to our goal to cover the expense of the mural and the other events of the day. We also hope you will join us in Stroud to celebrate on the 21st!
Every contribution, big or small, will bring us closer to our goal. Let’s make Stroud a place where the Curlew’s call is heard loud and clear!
Donate today and be part of this inspiring project!
